At Medic Cloud, we understand that the future of healthcare hinges on high-quality education and training for the next generation of professionals. Recognising this, we actively support the education sector by ensuring students have access to advanced tools and technology.

Today, we will reflect on our experience with Macquarie University to deliver four new DRGEM chiropractic x-ray systems.

Macquarie’s chiropractic x-ray system challenge

In October 2023, Dr Chris Agius from Macquarie University’s Department of Chiropractic reached out to inform us that four of their x-ray systems required servicing. During this time, students were unable to participate in practical work. This threatened to disrupt upcoming exams and potentially impact future student enrolments. Recognising the urgency and implications for the future health professionals, we took swift action to address the issue.

I assured Dr Chris Agius that I would personally visit Macquarie University’s North Ryde campus in Sydney. Upon arrival, I inspected the equipment, it became clear that the machines were far too outdated. A service or repair was out of the question. This assessment highlighted the immediate need for an alternative solution.

Early in 2024, we bridged this gap by donating four new DRGEM chiropractic x-ray systems to Macquarie University. This initiative aimed to equip students with hands-on experience using cutting-edge diagnostic imaging technology.A big step towards strengthening the connection between theory and practice.

After having obtained the necessary permits from Macquarie University, our Melbourne team collaborated to complete the following tasks in the training lab:

Empowering students with advanced x-ray technology

Apart from the obvious lesson learnt – to maintain a health check with what is happening in the education sector, it’s important to also recognise that medical technology evolves rapidly. Healthcare students need exposure to modern technology to do their practical training on industry-standard equipment. We believe it is the obligation of all private providers, like us, to keep a health check on our next generation of health practitioners and help when possible.

On this occasion, we hope that this hands-on experience equips students with valuable skills in diagnostic imaging and enhances their understanding of the technology. As a result, these future professionals are better prepared to confidently transition into the workforce and contribute meaningfully to healthcare.

Sustaining support for healthcare education

Our support for the education sector extends beyond this instance at Macquarie University. Across Australia, we continue to invest in initiatives that nurture the next generation. We believe that empowering students and educators is fundamental to driving healthcare innovation and improving outcomes. Through these contributions, notably the chiropractic x-ray systems we donated, we help develop the expertise necessary to advance healthcare and digital awareness to sustain its growth nationwide. Some of our other recent initiatives include:

  1. Providing public speaking at conferences in relation to the importance of information technology, diagnostic imaging and the allied health industry.
  2. Donating hardware and prizes to local schools to foster information technology awareness and exposure.
  3. Writing for the Medic Hub blog resource for healthcare professionals to educate themselves about diagnostic imaging and information technology.

We champion educational support

At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to improving healthcare outcomes. By prioritising educational support, we ensure future practitioners are equipped with advanced training tools and practical experience. This approach not only strengthens their capabilities but also builds a healthcare workforce ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
